Speed Week

One week in August.

It's what we build for.

Dream of.

Look forward to.

All Year long...

Speed Week 2007

59th Annual Speed Week
August 11 thru 17, 2007
(Vehicle Inspections begin on August 10, 2007)

Speed Week 2006 58th Annual Speed Week
2006 found the North of 49 Crew back on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
We had given 2005 a rest, mostly due to finances. Our engine build caught us short on cash and time, which proved to be fortunate, the salt condition in 2005 was poor.
This year the salt was very good, and we were well prepared. At least we thought so!

Why race only once per year? Once per year is all our budget will allow. We could race more often, there are more opportunities to run on the Bonneville Salt Flats, which is the closest LSR venue to us. Besides Speed Week we could participate in the Utah Salt Flat Racing Associations "World of Speed" in September, and SCTA-BNI's "World Finals" in October. LSR racing also occurs regularly on El Mirage, California and in ECTA meets at Maxton, North Carolina.

Speed Week 2005 57th Annual Speed Week
August 13 thru 19, 2005 We didn't race, but we did play tourist. Speedweek was a refreshing rest for us this year as we took part in the Hot Rod Hyjinks and observed the racing as spectators once again. The trip was a blast as evidenced in all the pictures we brought back.
Speed Week 2004 Wednesday, August 18, 2004, Ted Allan drove N49 to it's fastest ever speed yet, 198.915 Mph.. The crew was thrilled, but also disappointed, we struggled for the entire week trying to break the 200 mark and didn't succeed. We'll just have to get our act together for 2005. Speed Week 2004 did have some great high points though. We qualified two new rookies to their C level licenses, and made 11 passes with North of 49, topped off with bringing the truck home intact. Here's the full story...

Speed Week 2003 Speed Week 2003 is behind us. We're thrilled that we went faster, 196.2 mph, and disappointed that we didn't get the truck over 200.  We’re also excited about the future, because the school of experiential learning on the “great white dyno” has not left us stumped.  We’ll be taking the lessons we learned to heart and applying them in our continuing quest for speed.
Here's how Speed Week 2003 developed for us.

Speed Week 2002 North of 49's rookie year at the salt, Bonneville Speed Week 2002 was FANTASTIC!
The North of 49 team completed 10 runs, and came home with two "B" licenses, a top speed of 191.734 mph and the car un-broken. The full story...
