Bonneville 2005
57th Annual Speed Week
August 13 thru 19, 2005 We didn't race, but we did play tourist. Speedweek was a refreshing rest for us this year as we took part in the Hot Rod Hyjinks and observed the racing as spectators once again. The trip was a blast as evidenced in all these pictures we brought back. (click here)
North of 49 will return to the salt in 2005 at least that's our plan.
We've got a new engine underway, and we don't expect to have all the pieces sorted in time for August. Come June our heads, pistons and intake should ship to us. They've been researched and commissioned by our team engineers Walter Brooks and Bryan Long who determined that the combination of products from AirFlow Research, Wiseco and Wilson Manifolds would make the best of the new 427 tall deck block that Walter donated to the cause. The block will be built .030 over, we'll be re-using the crank, rods and cam from our previous effort and adding to them a new set of Wiseco pistons that have been matched to a new set of AirFlow Research CNC ported heads. The heads will be fed through an Edelbrock/Wilson CNC ported intake. So we'll bide our time and build carefully and hopefully we'll keep enough resources in reserve to take a shot at World Finals October 11 to 15, 2005, on the Bonneville Salt Flat, until then join us in following Land Speed racing at SCTA-BNI and Landracing.com
