"North of 49" at Speed Week 2003

Bonneville Speed Week 2003 was FASTER!

Speed Week 2003 is behind us. We're thrilled that we went faster, 196.2 mph, and disappointed that we didn't get the truck over 200.  We’re also excited about the future, because the school of experiential learning on the “great white dyno” has not left us stumped.  We’ll be taking the lessons we learned to heart and applying them in our continuing quest for speed.
Here's how Speed Week 2003 developed for us.

August 13 2003

The North of 49 Crew rolled out of Calgary, Bonneville bound. Ken Henshilwood supplied his truck and trailer to transport 1149 to the salt, Ken shared driving duties with Walter Brooks. Accompanying our convoy also included a second truck and trailer full of gear, a few Street Rods and a few car loads of Crew families and friends.

August 15 2003

Friday Morning,  Ken, Walter, Don, Ted and a few other crew headed out to the salt flats in the pre-dawn darkness, in order to ensure an excellent pit location.  The remained of the crew arrived on the salt after sunrise and found work was well underway to set up our new home on the salt.
The red and white tent was our lunch tent, Rob Siewert (Team Chef) did all his cooking here and it gave us room for our family and friends to visit while we worked on the car. Our crew was huge this year and ranged in age from 2 to 68.

Our pit was topped of with our new mascot, a steel "Hairless Beaver"  made by Rob
