"North of 49" Construction

small logo

February 17, 2002

Time for some body work. Rules in our class require that we retain the cowl eyebrow and windshield post mounting brackets. The body shall not be altered in height, width or contour, and all stock panels, including cowl, cowl eyebrow and windshield post mounting brackets (stanchion) shall be retained. In order to clean up the area we fabricated a windshield stanchion cap which covers the mounting bracket and outwardly is the same shape and contour as the lower portion of a stock windshield stanchion.

Windshield stanchion cap viewed from the front.

Right fender construction. The Street Roadster class also requires that we run rear fenders. Rear Fenders are required. The fenders may be bobbed to the bottom of the body, but may not be relocated, narrowed, or widened.

Left fender (four scrap fenders were used to construct the 2 on the car).

The "as found" pickup box was rough. Part of saving it required that we build a new box flange on its lower edge.

An inside view of the cowl & firewall, we also retained a stock Model A dash board.

Exterior view of the cowl and firewall.

Right fender.

Franken fenders.
