North of 49 at the Calgary World of Wheels, 2003
In 2002 North of 49 made its first public appearance at the World of Wheels in it's "mock-up" state. In 2003 North of 49 returned to the World of Wheels as Canada's fastest pickup, and we brought some salt along with it to help explain Land Speed Racing and the trucks configuration to the spectators in attendance.
At the first showing of the truck we received no end of questions about the trucks configuration, so for this show we were determined to present the truck in it's racing environment and to try to spread some "salt fever".
Salt blocks support the truck, posed against a backdrop depicting the starting area at Bonneville.
The display highlighted our current achievement 191.734 mph as well as our long-term goal.
The left side of the truck was displayed in racing trim, while the right was open for inspection of North of 49's internals. The display was laid out in such a way that we could invite spectators in to view more of the truck, just like Bonneville Pit hospitality!

The Display The display also included a display case of Bonneville memorabilia and a huge television and VCR provided to us by The Brick. The television displayed continuous video of the Bonneville Speedweek 2002 event from a North of 49 perspective.
Visitors to the display got to see and hear North of 49 in action on the salt. |

Salt Racers Ted Allan, Don Siewert and Scott Beairsto visit in front of the display Sunday afternoon.
Scott is wearing the trademark red hat of the Bonneville 200 MPH Club. A hat which Ted and Don hope to someday earn with North of 49.
Scott earned his hat during Speedweek 2002 when he drove his Suzuki Hayabusa at a record breaking 205 MPH. |

Mel Mel dropped in to the display for a while to show her support for North of 49.
While at the display she modeled the North of 49 Tank Tops, which the crew is selling along with T shirts to raise funds to supplement this years racing effort.
